Make A Difference

Unique Ways To Support HART

Have you wanted to get involved and make a difference but just didn't know where to start?  Volunteering is an excellent way to help.

Here is a variety of ways YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Pay for ad space in the local Cambria or San Luis Obispo newspaper to help promote HART and our adoptable cats
  • Can’t adopt?  Sponsor your favorite shelter cat with monthly donations
  • Donate your professional services (i.e. accounting/bookkeeping, marketing, grant writing, fundraising, legal, office/data entry, medical, graphic arts, painting)
  • Donate any special skills that you have (i.e. cleaning, gardening, carpentry, auto mechanic, sign-making, graphic arts)
  • Donate gift cards for Petco and Pet Smart and gasoline cards for our Adopt A Pet van
  • Take up a collection at work or at your social organization (collect cash donations, ask for canned cat food, cat treats, laundry detergent, bleach, clay cat litter, brooms, mops, dust pans with brushes, sponges, trash bags)
  • Make a bequest in your will
  • Add HART as beneficiary to your Life Insurance policy
  • Set up an automatic monthly donation through your bank
  • Have your church hold a bake or rummage sale and donate the proceeds to HART
  • Have the kids hold a bake sale in support of HART
  • Present the HART Cookbook to your organization or fellow employees for sale (only $10 and most of the recipes are from volunteers & local restaurants)
  • Have a garage sale of your own or hold a block/community yard sale and donate the proceeds to HART
  • Offer to foster and/or volunteer to bottle feed kittens
  • Offer your time to be on a committee:  Marketing/Events, Adoption Events in the surrounding communities, Newsletter, Emergency Evacuation Planning committee
  • Help us staff our Adopt-A-Pet events; once a month or so for 4-8 hours
  • Commit to provide certain shelter supplies on our Wish List every month (bleach, paper towels, etc.)
  • Provide a healthy environment for the animals; help clean and maintain the shelter once a week for a few hours
  • Solicit area businesses for fundraising items like raffle prizes, gift certificates, etc.

Help finish our Adopt A Pet Van – graphics are needed for the outside of the van, new tires are needed, general repair and maintenance are needed.  Help us obtain business sponsorships for our van & shelter.
