Buddy - Rat Terrier, Neutered male, 8 yrs.
Hit by a car on the night of Jan 4 in Los Osos, and just left in the road,
another passer-by stopped to help him.
He had a broken leg. Because he had no ID, the ER told the finders they
would put him to sleep. The pound was no option either.
HART staff was in the office burning the midnight oil when the call came
through, and immediately accepted him into our program. A Los Osos foster
home took him in for the night, and he went straight to our vet in the
morning for X-rays and pain meds. He spent a few days at Los Osos Pet Hospital
while we looked for the owner, who finally came forward 3 days later. After
hearing of his broken leg and a vet bill, she declined to take him. We all
offered to help with that, or have her work it off, but she still refused
and relinquished her dog, “Buddy”.
He is a nice little dog and gets along great with all the office cats at the
HART shelter.
He must wear his cast for 2 months with restricted movement
